The ODRE 2020 workshop is indented to be a forum for the exchange of novel and innovative ideas related to Open Distributed Real-time Embedded (ODRE) systems. ODRE systems have gained importance, especially in recent years by evolving embedded systems towards novel application areas that combine stringent real-time constraints, reliability requirements and the need for the open-world assumption. Examples are Ambient-Assisted Living (AAL) systems for elderly care, networked medical devices, and health management systems, applications for mechatronic systems as well as Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). In many application fields, ODRE systems must also perform tasks in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data. Due to the COVID-19 limitations, the workshop will be held in a VIRTUAL format!
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Software and Hardware Architectures for ODRE Systems
- Communication Networks and Connectivity
- Tools and Algorithms for Scheduling
- Semantic Technologies and Knowledge Graphs in Real-Time Systems
- Block-Chain and Semantic Web
- Mixed-Criticality and Real-Time Applications on SoCs
- Real-Time Signal Processing and Filtering
- Simulation-Tools and Analysis for ODRE Systems
- Fault detection and diagnosis
- Fault Tolerance and Reliability
- Neural Networks in Edge-Computing Environments
- Modeling and design
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Big-Data Technologies
- Cyber-physical Systems (CPS)
- Mechatronics
The VIRTUAL ODRE 2020 workshop is held in conjunction with the IEEE ISORC 2020 (at the Vanderbilt University Law School, Nashville, Tennessee, USA) and is supported by the BMBF and German Aerospace Center (DLR) project management agency (DLR Projektträger) funded project BRIDGE-US as part of the campaign “The Future of Work”.

The ODRE program is now online!

Today the world is being changed and revolutionized very fast by the integration of new technologies. Mainly digitalization and in particular, Big data and the next generation Artificial Intelligence (AI), are impacting our lives as well as business processes. The operational environment and all the digital services should actionably respond to these changes and result in actionable insights for the support of decision making actions in various domains. Industrial integration of technologies that cause such actionable changes include knowledge graphs, explainable and conversational AI, human centered AI, as well as deep learning, adversarial networks, and reinforcement learning. The BiDAW aims at bringing together practitioners and researchers from the areas of semantic web, artificial intelligence, and databases, to discuss research issues and experiences in developing and deploying concepts, techniques, and applications that address various issues related to big data and actionable knowledge. In this regard, we believe that the BiDAW will provide a productive and promising brainstorming environment to business leaders and academics towards transforming both big data and the next generation AI into actionable knowledge.
Topics of Interest:
Actionable Knowledge
Big Data Technologies towards Actionable Insights
Domain Driven Data Mining
Next Generation AI
Deep Learning
Knowledge Graphs
Semantic Technologies in Knowledge Discovery
Domain-specific Decision Making Solutions

Submission Guideline
Prospective authors are invited to submit manuscripts in the English language that can be up to 6 pages maximum* and should be formatted in PDF using the IEEE Conference format. For your convenience, the Conference Paper Templates from IEEE in various formats are linked here to prepare your manuscript. The papers may explicitly include the primary results and findings, emphasizing new advances, theories and/or applications so that the program committee will be able to understand the originality and the value of the work. All papers must be submitted electronically to the EasyChair Website.
Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by the Technical Program Committee. A submission implies willingness to register and present the work if the paper is accepted for presentation at the workshop. Accepted papers after proper registration and presentation by at least one of the authorswill be included in the workshop proceeding published by IEEE in the IEEE Xplore digital library. Failure to present the paper in person can lead to the paper being withdrawn from the proceeding. The final manuscript must be accompanied by a registration form and a registration fee payment proof. All workshop attendees must pay the workshop registration fee and their travel, accommodation, and other personal expenses on their own.
*The maximum length for papers is 6 pages, however, a maximum of two extra pages may be purchased during the camera-ready submission of accepted papers. Papers less than 5 pages and more than 8 pages will be automatically rejected without exceptions!
Important Deadlines:
Full Paper Submission: March 15, 2020 (23:59 CET) (Submission is Closed)
Acceptance notification: March 25, 2020
Camera-ready papers: April 6, 2020
